Zion National Park Vacation

Make an Abbey Inn Hotel your Zion National Park Vacation base camp

If you would like to take a Zion National Park vacation, book a room at one of the Abbey Inn Hotel Group’s hotels, which include the Best Western Abbey Inn, Best Western Coral Hills and Best Western Travel Inn in St. George and the Abbey Inn of Cedar City. Our St. George hotels are approximately 45 miles from Zion Canyon, the most visited area of the park while our Cedar City hotel is only 20 minutes from the park’s Kolob Canyons section, a little-known gem in the park’s northwestern corner.

Zion National Park’s Zion Canyon is a showcase of towering rock monoliths and diverse flora and fauna. It is home to the park’s best-known natural landmarks, including the Court of the Patriarchs, Angels Landing, the Watchman, and the Great White Throne, perhaps the most photographed formation in the park. Zion Canyon is home to hiking trails appropriate for every ability level, from the leisurely stroll along the paved, wheelchair-accessible Riverside Walk to the steep ascent to Observation Point. One of the canyon’s most popular paths is Weeping Rock, a 0.5-mile round-trip trail that leads to a rock overhang where it “rains” year round due to water seepage through the porous sandstone. One of the trail’s pleasures is its signs along the way identifying native plant life, including Big Tooth Maple trees, flowering Columbines and Box Elder trees. For a vacation in Zion National Park you will not soon forget, choose one of the Abbey Inn Group’s hotels as your lodging headquarters during your stay.

Your Zion National Park vacation should be more than just visiting the park. Along the way, you will want to explore ghost towns such as Silver Reef and Grafton, which served as a filming location for the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” Located four miles west of Rockville on the other side of the river from UT 9, Grafton features a restored church/schoolhouse, a former residence, and a cemetery housing the remains of early settlers killed by Indians. Other historic sites closer to the Abbey Inn Group’s St. George motels include the Jacob Hamblin Home, the Brigham Young Winter Home and the St. George Tabernacle. Natural history lovers will enjoy the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm and the Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum, which displays over 200 species of animals from all over the globe.
